All things mega man when you think of something!
I have to say at this exact moment I feel that gravity man had the most useful power (though it cost a whole lot) and I enjoyed playing his level the most. What say you all?

My favorite thing to do with that game on the NES was put in the game genie code for infinite special powers, then get Gravity Man's power and just run thru levels watching the enemies all fly away. Great stuff.

Oh come one we all know Top Man had the best power. Well maybe the best power to bore you with. As for powers I'm not sure but one of my absolute favorite levels was Gemini Man's level the music was great and I loved the way it looked.

How about a best power in each game?
My picks:
Mega Man 1: Elec Man, because it's powerful.
Mega Man 2: Metal Man, because you can shoot it 8 ways and a lot of bosses are weak against it.
Mega Man 3: Shadow Man, because you can shoot it 8 ways and it takes forever to run out.
Mega Man 4: Pharaoh Man. You can charge it, and if you do it right can get 2 uses out of every shot.
Mega Man 5: Gravity Man, because it makes the levels go by like nothing.
Mega Man 6: Centaur Man, just for lack of competition.

Mega Man1- Electric man because it looks good and its strong.
Mega Man2- Metal man because it looks threatning and it strong against a lot of bosses.
Mega Man3- Genimi Man because it shoots things on ladders as you crawl up. looks good too.
Mega Man4-Dust Man I like the way it looks and its effective on a few of the Cossack/Wily stage bosses.
Mega Man5- Stoneman because I like the range it has.
Mega Man6-Tomahakman because its a straightforward attack. Not definite)
Mega Man7-JunkMan I like the range and defensive shield it offers and its effective a on a few of the wily bosses.
Mega ManX-Best version of X-buster. real ablity would be Storm Eagles tornado.
Mega ManX2-Best version of X-buster. Real ablity would be the aligators wheel attack I suppose.
Mega ManX3-Toxic Seahorse because I like spilling acid all over the place burning things.

What about Mega Man 8? Has the world gone mad to forget this odd and way cartoony Mega Man?

I have played through Mega Man 8. My favorite in there was Astros mans ablity where you summon a bunch of meteors.

What about Mega Man 8? Has the world gone mad to forget this odd and way cartoony Mega Man? 8 I suspect was deliberately left off because some people don't like it. Me, I thought that other than the bad voice acting and the irritating snowboarding levels, it was no better or worse than 7. Which means the NES ones are still better. But yeah, Astro Man's power kicked ass.

There's a somewhat interesting Mega Man sprite comic called Life of Wily that I used to read. It's got huge archives now, since it's nearly as old as 8-bit Theater and used to update 3 times a week or more.

Here's a thought: what would you make for a boss in Mega Man? What would their name be and what would they do? Should be especially tough given how many there already are.

A month or so ago, when we had our second yard sale, I found an old notepad from when I was a kid. And it turns out I had at least fifty Mega Man bosses that I had made up drawn in this pad. Many of them (hell, almost all of them) were extremely stupid. But I had fun drawing them, no matter how embarassing it was to flip through them again when I found them. One of the more interesting robots was Santa Man. He would look something like the robot Santa from Futurama, except much fatter: His power would be that he carries a big bag over his shoulder, and he just pulls out different things to use against you. He can bring out bombs to throw, a sword to slash at you, healing items, or a snowball cannon (which does damage and freezes you in a block of ice). When Mega Man defeats Santa Man, the weapon he gets is the Snowball Cannon, which works much like the one Santa Man uses on you.
