Ok the idea here is to talk about character ideas you actually haven't gotten to play out either as a PC or NPC.
First off is my idea to play my Half Orc Paladin. Not only is that unusual but I want him to drink and enjoy dirty jokes. May not sound very Paladin like but the way I see it is what's the harm of having a sense of humor. Dirty jokes don't hurt anyone but racial jokes are another story. As far as the drinkings concerned as long as I'm not drinking myself stupid seems to me there's no harm in enjoying ale or wine with a meal. Now what would be wrong with drinking is if I were to do something selfish like not help a starving person because I'd rather have drinking money.
My most recent character idea is to play amiddle aged Elf Wizard/Fighter. I want to use one of those rapiers wih the gun attached and have the rapier diguised to look like a cane. This gu has a bum leg and really tries to look like the feeble old man but he's full of nasy suprises.
The only other character idea I can remember is my Human Ranger from the Arabian Adventures setting. The default setting is in Forgotten Realms its a group of islands south of Faerun.

I want very badly to play an idea I had for an aquatic elf. This aquatic elf was strange in the fact that he would live almost exclusively on land (save for when he had to submerge) and also be a drunken master. So he would actually be able to drink to live.

I once built (but never got to use) a half-aquatic elf Rogue, who was to be a pirate. He fought with a harpoon, and carried a few daggers as backup weapons.
I've also always wanted to play a Ghostwalker. It's one of the coolest character concepts I've ever seen, although not one of the most powerful prestige classes. I thought up a character concept for a guy known only as Stray. He dressed in a wide-brimmed hat that shadowed most of his face, with a gray scarf covering the rest. He would fight with a pair of bladed gauntlets, although he also carried a shortsword. He'd keep to himself and be the kinda guy that would make you cross the street to get farther away if you saw him walking in your direction.
There's more, but that's all that's coming off the top of my head right now.

Aquatic Elves are strange and it would be interesting to see one in action. The strangest thing I've ever come up with was that weird imp I played as during the bad munchin session.

Oh another idea of mine was to play a Gnome Sorcerer who was a "true illusionist" since his powers came from within. I sort of tried that with my failed Gnome Bard/Rouge. In theory a Bard/Rouge sounds cool. A Rouge who can go invisible or cast blindness/deafness is very dangerous.

I had a really good idea once. This came just after the conclusion of the first D&D game I was part of. We were supposed to be playing another game that summer, and I had an interesting character concept for it:
I was to play a half-celestial elf that was a cleric of Shaundakul, the Faerunian god of travel. He was eventually going to take the Mystic Wanderer class, the three-level prestige class based on teleporting people around. His goal in life was to explore the world and see as many places as possible. In battle, he would fight from the air, and swoop down to heal fellow party members before taking to the air again.
And to make things even more interesting, one of the other players was going to play his twin brother, also half-celestial of course, but a sorcerer instead. I forget what prestige class he was aiming for.

Ah yes I remember this although the idea seems to have changed a lot since I first heard it.

Well at one point I was going to play a druid going for the Shifter prestige class. In addition to being a shapeshifter (the height of coolness), I could hide my wings (and my half-celestial nature) whenever I needed to. But then I decided that the druid class was too restricted, and came up with the cleric of Shaundakul instead.

I've wanted to get to the point of being able to prestige class into being a stromlord. The idea of being able to fly in storms and seldom be affected by storms is fascinating. Not to mention the fact that you have to perform an act of destruction a day to keep your god pleased.

This is a concept I actually tried to do with my most recent D&D character, but it ended up not turning out that way. Arthur Greywood was to be a human wizard, but one who hid his arcane abilities, even in the high-magic world of Faerun. He didn't dress in wizardly robes but instead in simple traveler's gear. He passed himself off as a traveling scholar, which was why he carried books all the time, and why he seemed to interested in writing and collecting scrolls. He didn't even look like an adventurer: he was slightly overweight, balding, and basically looked a lot like Jon Lovitz. And to keep up the disguise, he learned how to cast without any of the typical wizard tricks. He had the feats Eschew Materials (no material components), Still Spell (no waving your hands around to cast spells), Silent Spell (no chanting, a dead giveaway), and even Spell Mastery (could cast a few of his favorite spells without his spellbook).

Next time I get the chance to play in a normal D&D game (which might be awhile, the way things are shaping up), I plan to play a rogue of some kind. Race is undecided right now, but it'll definitely be something that can pass in a crowd mostly unnoticed. So not drow, or any monstrous race, or anything like that.
Basically, I'm going to form my own thieves' guild. Instead of being the normal 18+ dex, max ranks in Hide, Move Silently, etc., this rogue will be focused on social skills. I will max out ranks in Bluff, Diplomacy, Sense Motive, Spot (to be able to Read Lips, since that skill collapsed into Spot with 3.5), and the like. High stats will be put in Charisma and Intelligence. I'll be taking the Leadership feat at earliest opportunity, and look for any items, feats, or prestige classes that can help me bump up that Leadership score as high as possible.
This rogue won't care a whit about magic items. When traveling with the party, he'll give everyone else first pick of the loot, so long as he makes a profit. This character will require a lot of cash, which is why he'll collect membership dues from his followers, steal valuable objects to sell on the black market, blackmail NPCs, and anything else to gain funds.
But unlike most characters, this rogue won't use that money to buy expensive, magical or masterwork gear. He'll use the money to bribe officials, and to hire assassins, mercenaries, and most importantly of all, SPIES.

i was thinking of being a duelist, but right now, after re-reading that prestige class, i see its like playing sin all over again...was gonna play him like the cocky, half witted glory seeker, who only did things if it make people recognize him and make him famous
but a ninja of the crescent moon looks pretty damned fun, and thats coming from the guy who hates ninjas, the stealthy assassin, who TRYS to be mysterious and imposable to figure out, but stinks at it.
spells sword is another prest. class i really really like, it combines the fact that i like swords, with the far more usefull use of spells, don't know how exactly I'd play this one though...

I may not go for the rogue next time after all. I'm starting to feel like playing a divine caster of some sort, either a cleric or a paladin, and really playing up the religious aspect. As a chance to expand my roleplaying abilities, since as you all know I'm not exactly a pious person myself. Plus, most of us never play paladins, and I don't really have a problem with the lawful good restriction so long as that's the type of character I've got in mind.
