ok, made a new thread for official things.
1.) the game will start in 2 weeks. (same week we play starwars) but on the Saturday, and the next game will be eather the week afterwords or 3 weeks after that game, probably the 3 weeks because of time. I'd run it this coming Saturday but thats alot to do in a week, but i suppose i could do that if you guys want to, i can figure things out.
2.) we are going by standard DnD rules, it'll be a mixture of 3 and 3.5, mostly 3.5 because thats all i have.
3.) i am adding a new race, the aquarians
+2 str, -2 cha, -2 wis
they're lives in the sea make them stronger than humans, but it also makes them naive and awkward when dealing with outsiders. medium size, so no bonus's or penalty's due to size.
amphibious: aquarians lungs can process water as well as air to breath, so they dont drown in water. and get a +4 racial bonus on swim checks
base speed: 30 feet on land and 40 feat in water.
4.) umm...yeah, I'll have a short history of the world up by tomorrow, including the aquarians history.

well, due to some issuses, kain wont be able to play on sundays, at least for awhile, and theres no point in running a game with 2 players, so unless we can find someone else, this wont be happenbing for awhile.

Hrm... that's unfortunate.
In the meantime, anybody got character ideas yet?

I'm tossing around three character possibilities at the moment.
1. Human wizard (transmuter), sort of a traveling scholar type.
2. Elven rogue/dread pirate. I built this character once for a game that fell apart after one session. It was a half-Aquatic Elf (from Races of Faerun), which would probably have to change if I were to use him here, since I'm betting Aquatic Elves aren't in this world.
3. Swashbuckler/Duelist (race to be determined). Somebody ought to do it, it's perfect for this campaign. I may, though it's the least likely of my three options at this point.

personally, i like the rogue/dread pirate, and the closest thing to aquatic elves is this world are the aquarians.

Right now I'm building the swashbuckler to see how I like it. This doesn't mean for sure that I'm going to play the character, though. I could go for either the Dread Pirate or Duelist class and reach it by level 6 or 7, depending.
I don't suppose you'd let me use the swashbuckler's dodge bonus ability to replace the Dodge feat as a prerequisite for the Mobility feat and the Duelist class? For all intents and purposes it's exactly identical to the feat, except that it improves every 5 levels of swashbuckler and it stacks with the feat. Seems like a wasted feat choice given I already have that ability.

I liked the way things turned out. I'm pretty happy with how Magnus Warfield has played so far (although it was frustrating missing so many times while fighting the Minjas), and I think we have some interesting party dynamics going on already.
Black heart: although you have a few kinks to work out (namely, refresh yourself on how a few skills or combat tricks work, maybe read up on the weather rules in the DMG since they will probably play an important role in the game), on the whole I was very impressed with this first session. You avoided some pitfalls that I've seen many a DM, including myself, stumble into. Namely, you haven't overloaded us with magic items, and you haven't let your high-level NPCs overshadow the players. And your improvisational skills seem excellent. Very seldom could I tell when you made something up on the spot.
So keep it all up! I'm looking forward to the next adventure with my pirate, especially since gaining that last level has tripled my awesomeness. ;D
One thing I almost forgot: if you're anything like me, you're your own harshest critic, and you will have noticed things about the game you didn't like that the players never picked up on. If that's the case, go ahead and fix what you can, but don't forget that it's pretty easy to keep players happy. All we really need is a chance to be our characters and some memorable NPCs and a decent story to work with, and we'll keep eagerly coming back for more.

thanks for the compliments and advice, i'll keep it in mind. oh, and about that comment with the magic items, i see magic items as more of a signiture thing than part of a arsinal. its probibly because i watch alot of anime, the main characters usually only have one or two things out of the ordinary about them, its how they use these things in unique ways that make them powerful, so as i said, i have the tendancy of seeing things like magic items something a character should only have one or two of, not a magic belt holding a couple magic bags which contain some magic weapons.
so, i've been thinking and have decided to do ship combat like its done in starwars. only thing is i'll be makeing up ship stats as i go...
profecion (sailor) will be used instead of pilots checks
fireing arcs are going to be much more important now, so you'll have to keep that in mind.
and at the begining of combat i will tell you the derection the wind is blowing, which will effect boat speeds, and you cannot ever go against the wind otherwise you stop.
umm...thats all i remember as of now, if something else pops up i'll post it if i can.
