I said it before, and I'll say it again. That was the most unique session of D&D I have ever heard of, let alone played. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.

WEll, first off let me say that whatever I say here is not meant in a negative light. In fact I mean the complete oppisite. I quite enjoyed the game and anything I say here is strictly my opinion. I'm not trying to give hints or tell anyone how to run a game. The beautiful thing is there's basically no wrong way to play D&D. Its not like there's some secret D&D police (that I'm aware of) that kicks down your door and arrests you for playing wrong. Personally I think the only wrong way to play is if the players and DM are not enjoying themselves. The goal is to have fun.
I just wanted all of that said because I don't want to sound like a rules lawer or a complainer. The only thin that would sound like that is the concept of being mor eor less Dark Lord hunters. The term iitself if used by anyone is really only known to a handfull of people. More importantly the concept of the darklord is also nly known and understood by a few people. While the Vistani may very well have a deep understanding they typically only act under the orders of Strahd. But we can leave all of this to our imaginations. Perhaps Strahd wanted to keep us busy and not bug him. Perhaps he needed someone kiled and wanted ot see if we were powerful enough. Perhaps the Vistani are looking for a way to overthrow Strahd. Who knows and who really cares. Its such a minor concern its hardly worth mentioning.
Now more importantly I think whats going on is pure brillance. Dispite the commical value we experienced in the game I think the very idea of this candy land domain embraces the very thought of Ravenloft. What better way to torture someone who's been traumatised by being surrounded by a house made of candy. I also love the dark origins of fairy tale characters. I've wanted to attempt something like that myself but could never manage to think of a way to pull it off. So I'm really enjoying all of this. So like I was saying I'm not trying to complain or say anything bad I'm just trying to pay the highest complements. I loved the game and look forward ot the next session.

Well, at least there's some mystery to the game and that is also another big thing with Ravenloft. The core books got some crazy suggestions and Van Richten's Guide to the Mist as well. They make it clear there's no absolutes in Ravenloft.

So unless John and Alex don't have Star Wars Sunday I'm going to do a one to three session game. John and Alex, you guys are welcome to join mine if you don't go to Star Wars, and Alex doesn't feel like DMing. But if Star Wars is cancelled I'm perfectly fine with playing Alex's game instead of running mine.
For those that are in my game and check this board I might as well lay out the background. You start in Darkon, and could have come from other domains previously if you wanted. However Darkon is, at the moment, being ravaged by an extremely deadly plague mostly in the eastern parts; for the moment anyway. The group members all came down with the plague at some point. Eventually when you all were on the brink of death you were taken to a large fortress by several guards at which point you can't remember anything else. You wake up in a closed space and its pitch black, and that's where we'll start Sunday 4/4:30 to 10/10:30.
Oh, its level 5, and 9000 gold. Feel free to buy any magic items and your gear with that. Just as an fyi you won't be starting with any of your gear but still write it all down of course.
Also last thing is that your all starting as undead. Give yourself a +2 to any stat and a -2 to any stat, and feel free to encorporate that into your character description. Such as your arms are bigger than normal for a strength boost but your face is severely mutated giving you a minus to charisma. Though undead, you all retain your free will, alignment, and memory.

As far as I know right now Star Wars is still on. But if that changes I'll be good to go for either game Sunday.

Well, like I said nothing major. If anything with the Vistani as outsiders we don't know either. Out of game let us draw our own conclusions. Be their intentions benevolent or self serving its up to us to decide what we think. I like the element of mystery there.

As I recall it, the Vistani have a sort of deal where they're allowed free passage through Barovia, and nobody in Barovia will mess with them. In exchange they basically keep their eyes and ears open wherever they go and just sort of let him know what's going on everywhere. If I'm not quite right in this (it HAS been awhile since I've played in or read anything Ravenloft, after all), hopefully somebody will correct me here.
