Ok first things first I know this probably appeals to all of maybe 4 people max here so if you got something bad to say don't. I'm tired of the things I like getting dumped on and anytime I say anything I'm the bad guy. By Odin's beard I'll give you a war of which the likes you've never seen if I have to put up with any Silent Hill trash talk. With that said and done onto talking about the movie.
Turned out to be pretty good and I like the mix of the Silent Hill 2 elements such as adding the monster dubbed pyramid head. He scored a pretty wicked kill too. Although the movie was a bit disturbing since it makes the game clearer and showing things in more detail made them pretty gross. It's bad to hear talk of a 9 year old girl who's been burned head to foot and is still alive and its quite another thing to see the blackened burnt body of a child who's still alive.
Now to adress the changes and similarities. Personally I didn't mind the cahnges and I think there were more similiarities than there were changes. Personally I like the change I liked most was the fact that Dilia was just a crazy woman rather than one of the villians. I also like the fact that they used music from the games in the movies and the fact that good old pyramid head had his buther knife the size of a sword. So overall an enjoyable movie.
Only thing that really bothers me is the end. Makes it look lik they are planning another one which I hope they do. Although it was suprising to see that Sean Bean didn't die in the movie.

It sounds like one of those good old style horror movies worth seeing like WishMaster, Critters and the old Freddy Crugers. Not like this new Shiitt that passess as horror movies today. I would like to see it myself.

It's definitly not your dumb horror movie where someone feels that running into a knife is a good idea. Besides like Wishmaster and Freddy Vruger there's a malevolent supernatural force at work.

Yeah much more my style for a movie. The sort of movie that I refer to as a bad movie is one like Scream. These generic stupid slasher movies.

It was a very good movie, I like how they incorporated the games into it.

The ending is a bit confusing. The games are a royal pain in the sense that they always leave you asking questions. What I think it comes down to is they are still dtrapped within the influence of Silent hill. It's said that in theory that Silent Hill has changed locations.

but didn't the little burned girl get her revenge? shouldn't all of that be over now that she has her peace? i thought the alternate reality was just a manifestation of all of her pent up anger and hatred

Perhaps but this so called demon may not be done having fun at others expense. I honestly think that it has something to do with the fact Rose told her daughter to close her eyes during the slaughter in the church and when she opened her eyes anyway that demon was standing there. Simply put Konami has a really sick sense of humor and with an ending like that they will probably do a second one.

I'm trying to think of how to explain this without having to go deep into the games because that would take forever. The way ti seems to work is people end up in Silent Hill for different reasons. The movie follows the game very closely although some things were changed. What is true is Alyssa was burned and lived somehow. Although in the game is named Cheryl and its true that she is also Alyssa. So in this particular case all this pent up rage involves being burnet and hospitals which is why the town burned and whatnot.
In the second game the main characer is named James and he' called to Silent Hill by a letter he's recieved from his wife who's been dead for 3 years. Let's assume its the same demon in 2 that is in 1. Might as well be because the final boss looks a lot like Alyssa did in the movie. Anyway the demon i nthere takes the form of a woman who looks almost exactly the same as James's wife. The difference being clothes and hair style. This demon toys wth him and at the end you find out that James killed his wife since she was really sick. James's wife also seemed to be really upset with him so lets say her rage was enough to attract this demon. It then messed with someone else in a completely different way.

Is it true that the main character in this movie is the wife? Isn't she supposed to be dead? Were we supposed to see Sean Bean wandering Silent Hill?
p.s. the above is reason i didn't watch the movie

It's a movie if someone wanted to see the game on screen tape the d**n game. It was close enough without being the game exactly and quite frankly I liked the story for the movie better than the first game.

Well, given any contradictions between the game and movie its still betther than what George Lucas did with the new trilogy. That movie is full of contradictions, bad acting, and bad CG graphics. So given all the nuts in that trilogy that destroys the Star Wars universe don't you or anyone else dare talk down about this movie. I can write pages about what's wrong with that trash that is supposed to be Star Wars.

Please i'm not trying to make this personal to anyone but myself. Should I just not post on this forum anymore? I don't want to upset people. I just thought it was unique having the father look for the daughter instead of a mother/daughter thing. Unique for right now as far as movies go, not to say it's never ever happened before.
I definetly agree that the plot of the first game isn't exactly stellar (the second one is really cool and intricate I think) and I bet that the movie has a better one. All i'm saying is I wish they hadn't switched the role of the main character. Partially for the father/daughter idea and partially for Sean Bean to get some more work where his character doesn't have to die in a movie.
I'm not saying I want to see the game on screen either. I'm perfectly open to the concept of an adaptation, especially since the graphics will be better.
Guess I may have to see it now so I can say whether I agree with you about star wars against this or not. Either way i'm not holding this movie or any other to standards by star wars. I'm not trying to compare silent hill to star wars in any way that comes to mind right now.
No need to gang up on me i'm not after anyone.
