I'm working on my own Stargate story for fun. So in the event I end up clashing with osmething already said or soon will be said just keep in mind this is just for my own amusment. Now as the title implies this will involve the Asgard. Although even though I am using them and the main focus is Odin the story is more about Asia. I also want to try to show the events that gave birth to many of our legends about the Norse gods. The main purpose of this story answers a lot of questions and among them where's Odin? Thor seems to be running the show so the questions are was there an Odin? Is he alive if so? If he's alive where is he now? I'll probably get working on this pretty soon.

One example of the myths being brought to life through actions is I'm going to show how Loki killed Baldur. The myth says that Baldur was vunerable to only one thing. For whatever reason Mistletoe was the only thing that could harm him. Loki found this out and crafted a dart made from a sprig of mistletoe. During a party the other gods were having fun using Baldur as a walking target. So Loki had Baldur's blind brother Hod throw the dart. It struck and killed Baldur. Then Hel agreed to release him from the underworld if every living creature cried over Baldur's death. Everyone but Loki did so. So that's why he was banished to the island where the serpent drips venom on him.
In Stargate Loki was banished for being an immoral scientist. He is still responsible for Baldur's death too. What is going to happen is Baldur is going to be wearing some stolen Goa'uld sheild technlology and they are tryng to find a way to penetrate it. Loki finds a way and in the process accidentily deals a fatal wound to Baldur. Hel is going to be in charge of the cloning procedures and refuses to transfer Baldur's conciousness into a new body.

The absence of any Odin among Stargate's Asgard (which I didn't know about until you brought it up), is rather conspicuous.

There's a number of reasons Odin hasn't been mentioned yet. The Asgard were introduced in the first season yet it took them up to the 7th to bring in Loki.

Heimdall is also introduced I think at some point in Season 6. Its around the time they start mentioning Anubis. At this point he's in charge of a scientific outpost.

I have done more research and should soon begin writing this story. It's taken me a long time to find some of the things I've needed and there's still a few more I need.
