How about it? Am I alone or are there other warhammer players out there? If you ask me (I realize you didn't) the greatest of all the armies out there has to be the wood elves. Especially with the new book. Sure they're mostly skirmishers but tell me they aren't awesome until after you've played their new incarnation.

I never tried Warhammer because it seemed so expensive to get into it. Plus I am too lazy to paint my own miniatures. But I will say that once they're painted they do look pretty cool.

A friend has an army and painted them, but never learned to play so if you are looking for someone to play against I can give you his number or e-mail.

If it's who I think you mean, isn't his army for Warhammer 40K?

I havent played Warhammer since it was a book and paper RPG, and the miniatures were all made out of lead, being used just for imagery

I didn't even know Warhammer used to be pen & paper. When was that?

I knew it existed but it was always a chicken and egg thing. I can assure you the larger model version is great if you have the means.

yah...warhammer is pretty old...I'd venture to say at least 20 years?...I know I saw the unpainted lead minis being sold even back then

My problem with the game isn't painting the minis. Its thr thought of shelling out massive amounts of money for the minis themselves then needing a book to tell me how to play.

Just to make it clear I'm not trying to offend anyone here. I'm just saying its money issues that don't interest me. The game itself may be incredible otherwise.

I'm not talking about lead mini's. I'm talking about some pewter and mostly plastic models. You control them in batallions on movement trays against your opponents many many opposing figures. Starting in a standard pitched battle 24 inches apart and going one turn till another until the other is gone. I'm talking about the fantasy battle extraviganza that warhammer is now outside of the roleplaying game.
