In the spirit of the Wizard vs. Sorcerer debate, I now bring you Cleric vs. Druid!
The question is simple: which do you like better?
My vote goes to the cleric. While the concept of the druid is trés cool, I don't feel the execution lives up to it. Druids make inferior healers, their weapon selection leaves a lot to be desired, and Wild Shape, their signature class ability, seems a bit overrated to me.
While clerics are less interesting to me flavor-wise than druids, they seem to have a lot more versatility both statistically and for roleplaying purposes.

Well it all depends on the game. While Clerics can be fun to play its not fun if you become the "White Mage" of the party. At least ad a Druid you don't have as good healing at first. Ignoring that though I do like Clerics more.

I'm with you on this one Reno. You've summed my opinion up quite well with yours. If I think of something else i'll just modify this

For me its Clerics all the way. I like their ability to heal and thanks to Fenris, he has shown that they can be very adequate fighters with the proper spell backing.

Nothing different from what has already been stated. Druids have an interesting feel but clerics are better for use.

Although in all fairness I was a Cleric/Fighter so a lot of my fighting abilities came from that. Clerics are ok on thier own but the fighter feats really made quite a difference.

Ooh, and the Druid goes down in a unanimous knockout!
I really figured we'd have at least somebody dissenting on this one. Maybe Rude will defend the Druid's honor.

i would go cleric and not even take a second to look at the druid. granted im going off 3rd edition rules and i know theyve been granted more in 3.5. lets just put it this way:a heavyly armed and armored warrior with the ability to convert any of his attack spells into healing spells or a guy wearing animal skins, cant use any good weapons, and has barely any spells

That about sums it up.
For the record, the one change I recall from 3.0 to 3.5 for the Druid is that he is no longer oathbound to use only crappy weapons. It just happens that he only begins with those few proficiencies. Unlike in 3.0, he can take the -4 penalty to attack to use them at no additional penalty, or learn the proficiencies to use other weapons. And that I think is a very nice improvement.
But it still doesn't change the fact that a cleric of equal level is a hell of a lot better.

i have played as both druid and cleric. clerics are entirely superior in combat, but i think druids are better as a roleplaying device. there is just so much you can do with it. They aren't useless in combat either. they have some nasty spells even at the lower levels. Poison and Contagion are 2 of my favorites. Entangle, false bravado....Thunderswarm (at later levels). they are support characters in combat.
