The question here is does everyone have a patron god/godess picked. it's not something you have to do and it also dosen't have to be a god or godess you pick the most gifts from. Although in this situation the reason I want to know is I want to involve items linked to each patron god in the story somehow. Weither or not they will hold any power or not I have not decided on. So take my character for example Thor and Odin are the two most important but having to choose only one I picked Thor. So the item he is getting as a special Amulet of Mjollnir.

I guess since my character orginally was a farmer and then becomes somewhat of a farmer again in his new home, Freya the goddess would make the most sense. especially since my guy likes to live the good life like Bilbo Baggins.

If it were greek it would be Hephaistos. Vulcan being the roman name.

Im not sure if theres a norse equal to Vulcan though. The only thing I can think of is the dwarves. and I dont think you want to associate with the dwarves in Rune. Vulcan being roman, it would be a name and god you might be famillar with, but the problem is its not norse. As for a Norse god, Id say maybe something like Heimdall or Tyr might work.

Well, for a smith there could be many such godd. Thor and not just because he uses a hammer. Thor is a god of strength, war and justice. You could BS that strength is needed to make weapons that are used to maintain justice and go to war. Loki, who among being a trickster god is also a fire god and fire is needed to forge weapons. Of course the dwarves really are the most appropriate since they are known for being the greatest smiths alive. Thier knowledge of forging weapons exceeds even Odin's knowledge.

To make things easier I'll give a rundown of the gods both in and out fo the book nad what they are most commonly tied to. This allows for some more obscure references. I won't list everything because tat would take forever. My best suggestion is if you like to look more into this goto www.pantheon.org and search the Norse Mythology section.

Odin- War, Wisdom Poetry Tyr - Endurance, Bravery, War (Germanic War God) Loki - Trickery, Lies, Fire Thor - Strength, Justice, War, Thunder Frey/Freya - Fertility, Love Vidar/Vali - Vengance (Both born before Ragnarok and become ruling gods after the battle) Baldur - Light, Bravery Hod - Darkness and winter (Piece of trivia an alternate name for Hod is Hoth) Hel - Godess of the underworld Njord - Can't tell you a whole lo offhand although I think he's the best choice for sailors. Valkyries - Battle Maidens (appropriate for female characters) Dwarves - Smithing

I'm leaning toward Tyr, based on what you've said here.

Although I doubt he'd be much of a smith after Fenrir took his hand. Although if even after that he was sucessful he would be the one to choose. In all serousness though a patron god can be picked based on anything. It dosen't have to be a profession most likely it would be your outlook on life and what you hold to be the most important.

Yeah, s'what I'm thinking. I don't want to choose Loki because there's definitely no trickster to my character's personality. Don't wanna take Thor because he's your character's god, and because the whole Strength and Justice business is a little too warlike for my character. So I figure the Endurance and such makes a good match for my character.

Well, more importantly in the world of Rune Loki is a malevolent god with no shred of good in him. While I would love to see a group devoted to Loki the way the game works with divine gifts the group may be killing each other off.

Tyr is a good choice I just thought that I'd let you know that the dwarfs Brok and Eitri are the ones who forged Mjollnir.
