What's the most obscure board game you've played and what is it all about?
I think my first is 4-way chess. Where you have a huge board with 4 flaps on the ends of each side. A chess battle royale.

For me it's probably Samurai Swords, which is a Risk-style game set in Japan where you have armies of Samurai led by generals, and you can hire a ninja to assassinate enemy generals.
Public Assistance is actually a fairly obscure game as well, though many of my friends have seen it. The object of the game is to make as much money as possible by remaining on welfare rather than being forced to get a job.

Well I do have a game called "Thirteen Dead End Drive" which was a complete knock off of "Clue" but that isn't necesarily the most obscure thing.

Anyone tried axis and allies. I had never heard of it until really recently. You know, it's the world war 2 themed risk game where you actually have to take year round turns (time lapsed to death) to get more money to buy more troops. Pretty cool game if you're patient and like risk-ish games

I have heard of it but Ive never tried it or even seen it. I know someone who was talking of this game wanted to give it a try. I do like Risk so this entertains my interests as well.

I've seen Axis & Allies for sale many times in Gamers Paradise, but I've never gotten to try it. Would be fun to give it a shot sometime.

Anyone tried axis and allies. I had never heard of it until really recently. I've talked to people about it and apperently its quite complex and time consuming to setup and play.

It isn't that hard to play really after you know the rules. Many would say the same about d&d but we all know better now. The turns can take a long time yes. But you can just put the board away till later if it takes too long in one sitting like normal risk.
Now the real long and time consuming board game and hard to setup is Napolean in Europe. It's the ultra version of axis and allies. World War 1 stuff

Axis & Allies is a very very long and consuming game...if thats not your type of thing, I suggest you not even pick it up, as its rather expensive for a board game....and if you dont want your butt handed to you on a platter roasted with an apple, I suggest you dont play me
honestly tho...it is a very long game...countless summer nights have I spent in a friends garage from the early hours of the evening til the crack of dawn playing 8-10 hour long games straight through...if you dont have the patience or mind for something like that, its not for you
he has the original first edition with no missing pieces, and it sure is a beauty to play with..

I nor he are the types to leave a game unplayed as if there was a pause other than to get snacks...put away the board and halt on my conquest of the planet?...
BAH!!

Axis and Allies is no longer than Monopoly if you only have 2-3 people

I've seen Monopoly go on that long too, actually. I can beat five computer players in under an hour, but Monopoly against other humans often takes forever.
