Eh, I'm glad you don't want to play one. I like my D&D games robot-free anyway.

I guess I will play a moon elf blade singer if we do this. If that helps or affects anything within what you want to do DM wise just say so. Although I think thats simple enough for the setting.

Most likely I have no clue what I'm playing lol. I'm definitely going to try to get use out of a complete book though. Any idea on starting level yet John?

Don't know about starting level yet, except that I know I'm not starting you guys at level 1. I don't plan on using houseflies, squirrels, and tall grass as the encounters against you guys so I'm going to need you at least at level 2. Beyond that, I'll let you know when I've got a little more info.
By the way, the bladesinger and the warlock are both fine. I'm not banning any classes (not even frenzied berserker), as long as they're from an official WotC published book. For stuff on the website, or stuff from third party publishers, I want to see it before I give the okay.
By the way, remember that this is a high-magic setting, so you guys will want some healing. That doesn't necessarily mean you will need a cleric, but it certainly doesn't hurt. And if nobody plays a healer then every player ought to make sure that they have some way to take care of at least themself (healing potions, wands of cure spells and ranks in Use Magic Device, or whatever).
Depending on whether Tony joins and what he plays, I might consider having a DMPC, but if so my character will be mostly in the background both in combat and RP.

In regards to Tony I wouldn't count on him. He mentioned to me he really isn't in the mood to play D&D these days. But if he changes his mind I'll let you know.

Well I asked him today and he said sure, but as you say I'm not counting on it. He's frequently unavailable anyway, so even if he joins I expect we'll be seeing him maybe half the time.
Which is okay. I'm planning for this to be much more loosely organized than before. Hopefully it will reduce the strain and allow the game to just be relaxing and fun. If and when he comes, then good. When he doesn't show, hopefully it will be easy to write him out for awhlie.

Alright, I'm taking it as decided that we're playing in the Forgotten Realms. This means that all the subraces such as moon, sun, wood, and wild elves, tieflings, fire, water, air, and earth genasi, drow, duergar, etc. are playable options. It means that this will not be a low-magic campaign, and we will be following the standard wealth by level chart in the DMG.
It also means we have a decision to make. Officially, Faerun has 365 days in a year, spread out into 12 months of 30 days each, and five special holidays in between certain months. The months are divided into three groups of 10 days each, known as a tenday. This is all instead of using our standard seven day week, with Monday through Sunday.
So do we want to use the official Faerunian calendar, or would you rather stick to Mondays through Sundays, using January through December?

well, standard earth time would be more simple all around, but the faerun calander could be more fun, it'd add a bit of flavor it all.

I'm ok that its in Forgotten Realms. I don't got a problem with the fancy calender system either. What harm can it do?

I'm leaning toward the Faerunian calendar as well. It mostly lines up with the Earth calendar because of its 30-day months anyway.
Starting level will be 2, by the way. Would you guys rather roll stats, or point buy?
Keep in mind that rolling stats means you'll probably get higher stats overall, which makes some classes that require multiple stats to be a little more effective than they would be, but it also means that NPCs and some monsters will have higher stats as well.

Faerun calendar is fine with me as is rolling for stats. Do you do drop ones and one complete re-roll or none of that?

Might as well go all the way:
Roll 4d6, drop the lowest die, reroll 1's and 2's. Roll 7 stats, keep the 6 best.

2 out of 3 is enough for me. I kind of figured you guys would rather roll stats anyway.
