To sum up everything that's been said before, and add a few more things:
We will be starting in Faerun. Specifically, somewhere in Tethyr, which is located on the west coast, north of Calimshan. We will also use the normal Faerunian calendar.
Start at ECL 2, with appropriate wealth: 900 gold. We're going to do this by the book, so your gear has to come from that, nonmagical as well as magical. I'm not going to enforce the carrying capacity rules hard and fast, just use common sense.
For stats, roll 4d6, drop the lowest die, reroll 1's and 2's. Roll 7 stats, and keep the 6 best. If your stats are pretty bad for that rolling system, ask and I'll probably let you reroll.
All official 3.5 Wizards of the Coast D&D books will be allowed for races, classes, feats, spells, items, etc. 3.0 sources can be used if there isn't a 3.5 conversion of it.
Min/maxing, should you choose to do it, is allowed up to a point. I don't want your characters to suck, and I can deal with powerful characters up to a point. That said, try a Locate City bomb or bring Pun Pun to the game (either google it or ask Alex or me if you don't know), and don't be surprised when I drop a Prismatic dragon or five on you.
Last but not least, when we played Star Wars up in Lake Zurich we had this cool message board set up for it. It had a rules board, general talk, in-character talk section, places for the GM to post info about the campaign and the world, and also boards where players could do private RP sessions for stuff they did between game sessions, during downtime, or something they didn't want to take up game time with.
Does that sound like something you guys would want? Take a look at mastertelos.proboards62.com/index.cgi if you want to see the type of layout I'd be using. Posting there would be totally voluntary, no pressure if you don't want to RP there or can't find time, although the possibility of bonus XP for stuff you do there would exist.
