(Robots from other Square RPGs.) (Final Fantasy Tactics) Worker 8 is extremely strong robot built by an ancient culture who joins your party when he is discovered. He is able to smash most enemies to death with just a punch but can also fire potent laser beams at almost any target on the screen in battle making him one of the best secret characters in the game. FFT is a strategy rpg. finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Construct_8Worker 8 i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/Goten3620/SNOWMANx2.png(Final Fantasy Legend 2 & Final Fantasy Legend 3[Saga 2 & 3] for regular gameboy.) You can use robot characters in your party and upgrade their abilities. (Final Fantasy Adventure[Seiken Densetsu] for the gameboy. The first Secret of Mana.) "Marcie is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy Adventure. He is a robot built by Dr. Bowow to hunt for relics in the Dime Tower. Marcie was left by Bowow in the Dime Tower and remained there when it sank in the Crystal desert. When the hero raises the tower, Marcie offers to help him reach the top. Marcie shoots lasers to fight monsters and can restore the hero’s magic power if asked. When they reach top of the tower, it begins to fall. Marcie convinces the hero into letting him throw him to safety by saying he will jump afterward. Once the hero is thrown out, however, Marcie admits he cannot jump and says he must stay with the tower, going down with it." finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/MarcieMarcie images3.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/2/2e/Marcie_%28FFA%29.jpg(Chrono Trigger) Robo/R-66Y/Prometheus chrono.wikia.com/wiki/RoboRobo media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/4495/506862-ct_robo2_super.jpg

SEGA RPGS (Shining Force) Shining Force takes place in a classic medieval fantasy setting but Adam is a robot from the game's past built in an Atlantis like science fiction setting where both advanced science and advanced magic reigned. In the past elves, dwarves, werewolves, werepanthers, centaurs, bird men, dragon men and other such creatures were the genetic experiments of the scientists of the Atlantis like era. Originally made to be make strong fighters against devils and supernatural enemies, the scientists began to fear their creations and their strength and so made an unusually strong and terrible biological super weapon in the form of a dragon known as Dark Dragon to extermenate the biological creations. Made only to kill innocent lives by the thousands at a time, it is an example of man's ugliest misuse of genetic research. Dark Dragon though had a mind of its own and quickly came to realize its own great strength both physically and psychically and became as much a threat as the greater devils themselves and began destroying the land. It was the combined might of the humans, elves, dwarves, centaurs and other creatures who were able to defeat Dark Dragon. The war sent culture back to the middle ages. Though its will was so strong it couldn't really die but only sealed up and would come back. Robotic warriors were also used in the original war against Dark Dragon and Adam was the last one to surive into the games storyline serving as a major helper to the main character. There is also another robot named Chaos who was reprogrammed and serves as an enemy. sf1.shiningforcecentral.com/shining_force.html?pages/characters_force_adam.htmlAdam sf1.shiningforcecentral.com/images/characters/adam.jpg(Shining Force 2) Zynk is another surviving robot like Adam. "Zynk is a Robot from the past, one of the inventions of the Ancients. He is met in Moun, protecting the townspeople and tags along with the Force once you leave Moun. He flies the Nazca Ship for you" " Zynk's Headquarters Quote: "We have been fighting the devils since ancient days..." There is also another robot named Talos that is gigantic and guards a shrine and will attack if you stay too long. It is based on the Talos of Greek Mythology which is also a giant warrior made of bronze that serves as a patrol guard. sf2.shiningforcecentral.com/pages/characters/zynk.htmlZynk media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/7754/469387-zynk_large.jpg(Phantasy Star IV) Wren is a 1000 year old human looking android who lives in an artificial satellite in space where he controls a machine that manages the weather and atmosphere on two planets in the solar system to make sure they retain liveable enviroments for the populations. When something goes wrong with the equipment he joins your party to help fix the problem. He can shoot out destructive sound waves, proton beams and photon particles. Demi is another android who joins you who was actually built by Wren. shrines.rpgclassics.com/genesis/ps4/characters.shtmlWren www.lordyuanshu.com/images/PhantasyStar4/kuranwren.png

Talux the robot in the D&D game has a background similar to Lux from 7th Saga and Adam & Zynk from Shining Force. Like Lux he was built ages ago in another time period and no longer remembers much of the era or his origins. He is polite, logical and friendly in the way you might expect a robot to be. Also after being shifted from the area he was guarding he attempts to try to remember the old days more and recover lost data much like Lux. Like Adam(Who does remember his old era) he retains the memory that he is supposed to defend humans and sentient creatures in general from harm as Adam was built as a warrior to defend sentient creatures and like Zynk he has memories of fighting against hostile monsters from ancient times.
Visually he resembles Lux the most but since good images of Lux are hard to find, take a look at the picture of Marcie the robot but picture it smoother, standing more straight and more metallic grey or silver in color just as the small picture of Lux appears.
That is basically the back story of Talux and what he looks like.

(Ideas for spells or spell like abilities for the robot prestige class)
(Also if feasible I want to retain very high hp in particular and also defense(AC) as well as a high attack to continue packing a hard punch. So far Talux seems pretty strong right now but I mean I would like it to stay that way as he lvs up. I know this combined with the abilities below may be making Talux too strong but lets just see what we can do.)
(Piercing Laser [weak]) A low lv spell. It would be something that shoots a beam of energy in a straight forward line. Perhaps composed of electricity/lightning or maybe something else or non-elemental. Would be weaker then my physical attacks and only used when needed. Perhaps it could pierce through opponents in a straight line and go past them hitting multiple targets but its range wouldnt be that great. Maybe 30 to 40ft and it would still hurt friends. The lasers would be fired from my chest.
(Piercing Laser ) Same idea just stronger as in it does better damage. If its feasible.
(Great Laser or homing missile attack) A powerful missile like laser attack with very far range. If possible something that can get around most obstacles and can even turn around if needed to hit its target. Perhaps Eldridge blast or Magic Missile already represent this but if there is any other ideas for something stronger lets talk about it.
(Electric Burst) In the style of the "thunder spell" of Lux and the shock/electrocute attack of Robo I want to generate some sort of electricity attack against enemies. It could work like a basic lightning spell or in the style of Robo's Shock which I would like and be something that allows me to generate an electric attack all around my body and afflict everyone around me in a circle 5 to 10 ft away and would harm friend and foe alike. This can be a high lv spell if preferable. With perhaps a more standard lightning like spell being a lower level spell like ability I learn before this one.
(Extended Punch) An attack that allows me to extend my arm out with great speed making extra damage in the impact against the enemy for slightly more(At least an extra 4) damage then a regular attack. Has the added bonus of being able to strike an enemy 10ft away. Of course I can be holding my sword or a weapon as I do it.
(Heal Beam) Like Robo's heal beam. My sensors extract and generate positive healing energy for everyone around me or just my targets anyway. And as we talked about before, we can make it work just like the Dragon Shaman ability.

Perhaps it could pierce through opponents in a straight line and go past them hitting multiple targets but its range wouldnt be that great. Maybe 30 to 40ft and it would still hurt friends. The lasers would be fired from my chest. Plenty of ways to do this. There are spells that create line effects of various elements, and I wouldn't be surprised if electricity was one of the easier ones to do. The stronger version would simply be either the same spell as you level up, or perhaps a similar spell of slightly higher spell level. Magic Missile covers the basic idea but it's not very strong. Scorching Ray might also work with a little reflavoring, and it would be slightly stronger but still a low-level ability. There might be higher-level stuff that does the job but I'd have to look into it. I have a decent collection of D&D books in physical form but one thing I lack is the Spell Compendium. I know there are spells that deal electricity damage in a radius burst, and there's probably even one that emanates from you. I'm just not sure where it is. The best way I know to do this is a magic item, and a relatively cheap one as well. Unfortunately you would be able to do it only three times a day unless a stronger version was made. This will actually be the most difficult thing to pull off. The idea of a draconic aura was floated the other day, which wouldn't work quite the same way but would still heal, sort of. Basically it would grant you and every ally within a short distance of you the ability to heal 1 hit point a round, or possibly up to 5 a round by level 16 or so. But it would only bring us up to half HP before stopping, and it would be so slow that it would be much more useful out of combat. For comparison, clerics get Mass Cure Light Wounds as a 5th level spell, which means they can cast it at level 9. That does 1d8+5 hit points to all affected allies, which is really not worth the cost of a 5th level spell in my opinion. But nonetheless, it's a 5th level spell which means it might be hard to duplicate in a non-spellcasting class.

Since many of the powers you want are fairly similar to spells, you could choose to do something similar to what I'm doing and make a warrior/caster hybrid. The only thing is that would be fairly similar to what you're doing with Vanemuine in my game, just a different way of doing it. Also, it might be a headache for you to keep track of a lot of different spells.
Another option might be for you to take some levels in Psychic Warrior. I'm not real familiar with their powers list, so you'd have to work with Alex on that to see if it would meet what you're looking for. This would also give you the advantage of using an MP-based system rather than spells per day.

Well I'm ok with the idea remaining a physically strong machine with good hp and high attack and just using magic items to simulate some of the Robot powers combined with a slight storyline alteration to the items to make them seem more like upgrades or power chips with a mystical bent.
We can skip the heal beam if that is too odd or difficult to factor in for my character. I just figured we needed a healer and that would be one great way of doing it.
One thing I would like to mantain though is a special spell like ability that is inbuilt and unique to my character to shoot a piercing laser of somewhere between 10 to 30ft and have it increase as I LV though still always weaker then my direct physical attacks. About 50-75% weaker. And it still goes through enemies but can hurt friends and so I would have to use it carefully or not at all in certain situations. Lightning based or maybe not.
With this the extended punch may not seem to be as needed though if a magic item does allows for that then I would take that too as that would allow me to do my full physical damage from 10ft away without hurting allies. Im Ok with 3 times a day as it could create quite an advantage.
We can skip the Electric burst. Though if there is a magic item that easily makes the same effect then lets do it. As for a homing missile maybe that can be a high level ability or just in the form of a magic item. That is if we an find a better version of the spell besides Magic Missile and Scorching Ray that even makes it worth it.

What if we basically took a wand/rod of lighting bolt and had it installed in him and he could mentally activate it? Basically the wand/rod could be installed in his abdomen or arm or something and would shoot out forward or wherever he pointed it? This way it's not bending any rules, just taking a normal magic item and using it in a creative manner. Just a thought.

I had thought of wands as an answer to some of these ideas. There are a couple things to consider though.
First, wands are consumable items. They have fifty charges (assuming you get them brand new), and then they're nothing but a stick.
Second, they require the Use Magic Device skill if you aren't a class that has the ability to cast the spell in the wand. Use Magic Device is cross-class for fighters, and although this can be fixed with a feat, he does not have many skill points to spare so it will be quite awhile before he can consistently make the check DC needed to activate wands.
Third, I worry (and I believe Alex does too) that John will be reluctant to engage in melee combat with these options available to him. Which would not be a good thing considering that melee is what Gash (Gosh? I can't remember the full name) is built for.
Finally, I don't want to rain on the parade of using magic items to simulate special robotic upgrades, but it's simple truth that fighters are one of the most gear-dependent classes in all of D&D. They need to be putting their wealth toward improving their attacks and damage, toward boosting their Strength and Constitution so they can do what they're designed to do. Every wand that he gets is a +1 that his sword isn't getting, or a Gauntlets of Ogre Power that he's not having. Those items are pretty necessary for him to be where he needs to be in melee as we level up. So any upgrade-type items need to be balanced with items that work toward improving the warforged's strengths.
