So should we try for a game this weekend? Not sure which day is better; Saturday or Sunday, but one of them I guess. If everyone is up for it I can give more details on the world/area of the game and the basic storyline you would be starting with.

Calling dibs right now on playing a Beguiler.
Also, should I check and see if Noj is free, or do you want to keep this to the local crew only for ease of scheduling?

Noj is more than welcome. As for days, it looks like I can do either Saturday, Sunday, or even Friday; however is Alex doing a game Friday?
So I'll give a little background on the game then. Its set if Faerun but not anywhere on the main map as its a made up continent; I just want it to be in Faerun so that there are more options available for players and DMing. Starting level will be 3 with standard gold and all that good stuff. Do the standard 4d6 for stats, drop the lowest, re-roll ones, and you get one complete re-roll of all 4d6. If you get completely horrible stats just let me know and we'll figure something out.
The background of the continent, which is named Girdlegard, is that it is a continent primarily dominated by Dwarves; though you wouldn't know it by wandering around the continent as the Dwarves are all in their mountains and fortresses rarely venturing out into the wilderness and rarely mingling with the other races; generally speaking anyway.
The Dwarves have an uneasy relationship with elves at best. Some Dwarves tolerate the elves while others would love to see every elf dead and buried. Humans rule most of the land that the sun shines on, with Gnomes existing on the continent, but mostly as a second class citizen at best.
I'll try to scan a copy of the map of Girdlegard but the one I have is a pretty poor map anyway as it doesn't show elevation or geography, only the separation of the countries, but basically the map is divided into 7 countries all with its own name of course but Dwarven civilizations rule in 5 of the 7 countries and the Dwarven civilizations are simply named Firstling, Secondling, Thirdling, Fourthling, and Fifthling. There is a "High Dwarven King" that rules over all of the other Dwarven kingdoms.
Because this continent is separated from the main mass of Faerun I'm going to use a different timeline. The year that the first session starts is late spring of 6234 and each year is called a solar cycle; each day is called an orbit. Roughly 1035 years ago the Stone Gateway, which is located in the northern mountain pass of the Fifthlings kingdom (the country is called Gauragar), was attacked by a massive group of Orcs and other unknown monsters. Despite the well trained Dwarven armies of the Fifthling kingdom that guarded the gateway, the unmatched craftsmanship of the gateway itself from the Dwarven stone workers, and the magical seals guarding it the Orcs broke through and now run rampant through what is left of the Fifthling kingdom, most of Gauragar, and other parts of Girdlegard.
I'll say that Gridlegard is located straight West of the main continent of Faerun and straight West from the High Forest and the High Moor. If you guys want you can say that you are already arriving on the continent when the campaign starts or if you feel a need to start on the main continent that's fine, but I figured we could save some time by just having everyone already be on the continent. You would be arriving on the eastern coast of Idoslane, which is the eastern most country of the continent. The reason you would likely be traveling here is of course your own, but ideally the High Dwarven King Gundrabur has sent various summons across Faerun asking for a group of adventurers to come protect one of his guests who is traveling from Idoslane to Blacksaddle, Gauragar in the northern part of Gridlegard to deliver some documents, and then from there to the country of Sangpur in the south so that the contact can meet up with the High King, as requested; the contacts name is Tungdil and he is a dwarf.
In your travels to Gridlegard you have also heard word of a dark force that broke into Gauragar, the northern country of Gridlegard, and Dwarves are starting to amass in an effort to re-close the Stone Gateway and drive the Orcs and whatever else came with them back into the northern realms above Gridlegard from whence they came.

Just another note. The Dwarves in Girdlegard worship Vraccas and the Humans worship Palandiell as their main deity, but there is also Elria, the water deity; Samusin, the wind deity that regarded men, Elves and Dwarves and beasts as all equal beings; and Tion the dark deity that most of the Orcs and or Drow of the region worship.

Sunday is best for me. Also I really want to play an elf. I understand the role-playing demands this entails and i'm up for it as long as i'm not killed on sight everywhere I go. The plan is to go fighter till I qualify for Kensai (probably involving 1 level in Paladin or something). More as it develops.

Ooh, Kensai. I've thought about playing one of those before but never got around to it. I'll be interested to see how the class plays.

Hey. Sorry about not being around this past weekend but I had a bunch of stuff going on and I brought my car to a car show Sunday for a 9/11 tribute they were doing in Schiller Park. My family is doing a birthday party for me Saturday the 17th and anyone is welcome to come, and hopefully I can be free Sunday for DnD or magic. Also, maybe I can make myself free Tuesday or Wednesday night after work for a bit to play Magic, because I do miss playing it after taking a week or two off from playing it.

That all sounds good. I would like to get some use out of the cards I bought recently, and I am up for some D&D as well if that's a possibility this weekend.
When/where is your party on Saturday?

So it looks like Noj and myself aren't free this coming weekend, and I think Alex wants to do his game next, so I'll plan to do my game the week after that unless John wants to start up his game again.

For the upcoming weekend regardless of whose game we do I will only be free Sunday. Sam and I are going down to University of Illinois with some of her friends and coming back Sunday morning; so I'll be free for a Sunday evening game.
