I know there aren't a lot of wrestling fans on this board, but there are at least a few. And for those of you who didn't know, Eddie Guerrero died this weekend. As I write this, the cause of death is still unknown, and the preliminary autopsy was inconclusive. A lot of wrestlers die. It's a fact of life because of the hard life they live. Yeah, it's fake. But the injuries are real, and the constant hits they take in the ring five days a week, fifty weeks a year or so, causes a lot of them to become addicted to painkillers. But Eddie wasn't one of those people. He had problems with drugs and alcohol in the past, but he'd been clean for four years. Seeing him last Friday night on Smackdown, I couldn't tell that anything was wrong with him. He looked and acted perfectly fine. Regardless of the how and the why, the fact remains that the WWE has lost one of its most talented and entertaining stars in the prime of his life. A lot of people didn't like Eddie for whatever reason, but personally he was one of my favorites. And lately he almost singlehandedly made Smackdown worth watching. Even when he was involved in a crappy storyline (like the long, dull fight with Rey Mysterio this year), he always delivered in the ring, and for that I had a ton of respect for him. So in conclusion, rest in peace Eddie. The fans will miss you.

Someone who takes that abuse and toughs it out is a person deserving of respect. Its also great that he got to be clean and stayed that way till he passed. I knew nothing about him but as a man who just died, I hope he rests in peace too.

Eddie was a great and talented man...no matter if he was face or heel, he could suck you in with his performance
I cried during the opening of Raw, and I stood for the bell tolls...you were fantastic, Eddie...I'll miss you and your lying, cheating, and stealing...rest well

I was shocked when I seen this on the news. He was among my favorite wrestlers. He was always fun to watch.

I heard it on the news sunday evening. I couldn't believe it. It was the same reaction i had when Owen Hart died in 1999. It brought a tear to my eye to see the reactions of the Raw superstars on monday. Chavo, Benoit, Batista....everyone was so emotional. He will be missed by the wrestling comunity.
Viva La Rasa Eddie.

As it turns out, the cause of death was heart failure, brought on by thinning of the blood vessels and the heart growing way too big too fast when he bulked up after coming off his addiction. The combination of the addiction and the rapid muscle growth caused the heart to work too hard, and that eventually killed him.
While I missed the tribute on last week's Monday Night Raw, I was able to catch Friday Night Smackdown, which put on an unbelievable tribute. Current champion Batista came out to Eddie's theme music, in Eddie's lowrider, and said a few words about him. Then he laid his championship belt on the hood of the car and left the ring. The lowrider remained parked at ringside all night, and many wrestlers througout the night would give it a pat as they walked past.
Throughout the night, they interviewed many of Eddie's friends within the company, most of whom broke down in tears during the interviews. Nearly every match was in some way a tribute to Eddie Guerrero, especially when his nephew Chavo wrestled, used Eddie's Frog Splash finisher and Three Amigos suplexes, and won in classic Eddie style. The whole two hours was very touching and was probably the best show Smackdown has put on in months. Too bad it had to come under such unhappy circumstances.

Smack Down's tribute was better than Raw's, as Eddie wrestled on Smack Down. Having Eddie's low rider there was a nice touch.
