This site has extensive information about the character Santa Claus as he exists in the marvel universe. Within it they refer to Santas germanic origins going so far as to say hes both St.Nick and an aspect of Odin. Infact in some Thor comic stories that make it seem as if Odin is indeed the same as Santa.

Only the god of war would give swords,arrows and daggers as presents.
