This is an extremely interesting find. Final Fantasy Time and Again is another extensive fan made game of the FF series much like Kefka's Revenge. Their strengths lie in the story making process. The idea of this fan game got started from two people, who played a 8 month long campaign of Dungeons and Dragons based on the world of Final Fantasy 4. They liked the story of their game so much that they decided to make a video game version of it for people to play. They played as heros taking care of other events at the sametime as the plot of FF4 is going on. Ocasionaly they meet Cecil and the crew. They mixed the story into the world of Final Fantasy Tactics. Based on the in game (FFT) connection of the ruins of Baron.(A kingdom in FF4) They did this help expand the lands to explore and make story even bigger including all the interesting locations of the kingdom of Ivalice(FFT). This makes for a strong Medieval fantasy feeling which I really enjoy. This game definetly has the feel of the old ways the old rpgs of fantasy and adventure. They even went as far as to make a timeline that spans thousands of years talking about the events that shaped up the kingdoms as seen in FF4. They also got live naration in the story for when the game is played. This is some pretty interesing work done by some pretty devoted people. ff.zefie.com/about.html

Though I was never a fan of FF4, I think it's cool they went and made a game out of their related game.

To Kain, theres a playable demo on that site so you can try out the game. Watch out though, its font is really bad for some reasom and hard to read. Plus as for the battles its obvious they still haven't really mastered that, I don't like how slow it goes. But as for their story work its pretty well done and kind of fleshes out FF4s plot a little more. I liked seeing Cecil going into the chiefs house leaving the package there. though that didnt happen in the game, the king did tell him to deliver the package. I think its very reasonable that in many game rpgs there are many events that happen on the side that we don't get to see. I also believe that there are more townships then are normally seen and what you enter is more like the captial or main area of village or city. Oh yeah if you download it, you can also fiddle with the music and listen to live narator speak. I really liked that addition. It really helps set the mideval tone.
I would like to play in a campaign of this universe one day. Theres alot to be explored and done with it. Stuff I would like to see would be the elves, that we know exist because of the dark elf and the elven bow but we dont get to see any normal elves. I would like to see more of dwarven kingdom, the slyphs(faries) and the land of monsters and possibly even fly through space and see the lunarian world. Theres really alot of fun stuff that I can think of doing in this world. If anything I may run such a campaign myself one day in this setting.
