It's coming. And it looks bad. www.apple.com/trailers/independent/bloodrayne/ Directed by the now infamous Uwe Boll, the "genius" behind such gems as Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead, this promises to be the stinker of the year when it's released. Much like anything Boll does. Uwe Boll's movies do so badly that they're usually considered the worst movies of the year. Not only do critics hate these movies, but they do extremely poorly in the box office as well. And does Boll realize his movies suck? No. He puts it down to "dumb audiences" for not liking his crap. In fact, the only reason Boll is able to continue to afford to make movies is because of a loophole in the German tax system that actually lets German studios write flop movies off on their taxes. See the Wikipedia entry on Uwe Boll to learn more about how this works. What really worries me is rumors that Uwe Boll is pursuing the rights to make movies for Half-Life, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout, and Castlevania. Hopefully none of those will pan out.

No Metal Gear Solid I really hope that dosen't happen. As for this movie I seen a preview on Bloodrayne 2 when I rented it. Looks to be fairly inaccurate although perhaps out of sheer curiosity I may see this if I just wait and rent it.

Uwe Boll is known for taking some creative liberties with his story, and I hear he then pressures the video game makers to make the next game more like the movie. What an arrogant jerk.

Taking liberties can be ok but when trying to tell the original creators to change what they want is a little much.

That is too much. Perhaps it will best to just see the true movie as the story unfolded within the games.

Not that the Bloodrayne games tell the greatest story either. While the idea of a vampire fighting occult-minded Nazis sounds interesting, the game's true intent is to market itself based on "Look how hot we can make this vampire chick!" Anybody who has played five minutes of the game and seen Rayne jump on an enemy and wrap her legs around his waist while sucking his blood knows what I mean.

Well, sex sells. Now while I don't mind some of the crap in games like the skimpy costumes they could have toned down the feeding. Overall I enjoyed the game for its violence level though. Nothing like tearing through a pack of people and seeing severed limbs flying around the room.

So far it looks like this movie is going to be a waste. But I suppose I can hold my breath till I see it first...

And make sure you don't pay too much to see it.
