A little over a week ago I picked up a copy of First King of Shannara. I also through the power of a book club ordered a bunch of other books. I just finished First King of Shannara today purpously taking my time to read it. That's because the other books I ordered were in the Shannara series. I now own 12 of the 14 avalable books in the series. 3 more books are coming out over the course of 3 years. From what I read it sounds like there will be more than that. I doubt most here care so I openly admit I'm posting this in the name of boosting my post count.

Since I want my post count up and i honestly think these are good books I plan on talking about them as I read them even if it only to myself. So i'll start with the fact I finnished First King of Shannara a few hors ago. It was fun to reread such a fun book since its been a long time since I last read it. it's also fun armed with the knowledge I didn't have then. Such as knowing who Cogline was and not remembering the fact that he was in first King of Shannara. What else was fun to see was that the smith who forged the sword was rumored to have changed his last name to Creel. Now that's important since there was a Creel in The Sword of Shannara and in the Heratige series as well.
With that said I move onto the war at the end. What I love in addition to Terry Brooks writing a roller coaster story that snakes and twists all over is the brilliant tactics used in the great battles. They are impressive battles fought over the course of many days in many places against incredibly overwhelming odds and monsters. My favorite war scenes tends to be with the Elves because of thier crazy tactics.

I am not roughly 1/4 through Sword of Shannara. Since I got the hardcover book with the Sword of Shannara Trilogy in it the book is huge but The Sword of Shannara itself only takes up 433 pages of the book. About an hour ago I broke the 100 page mark.

Of all the books on the above list, I own everything except Straken, which I took out of the library on Saturday. I got into this series in eighth grade on a tip from the school librarian, and I've been happy with the series the whole way through. Which is more than I can say for most other fantasy series that I've read, including the Sword of Truth, the Drizzt series, the Star Wars line, or DemonWars.
I guess it's been way too long since I read First King. You say Cogline is in that?

Yeah Cogline is the one who gives Bremen the formula for the alloy to make the sword. He's even hot 3 Moor Cats at this point. however He's neither crazy or serious he's rather hateful. He just wants to be left alone in his shack in Darklin Reach and cares very little about the events of the outside world.

I've finished Sword of Shannar and I am now 10 chapters into Elfstones of Shannara. It was fun rereading those books since its been a long time. I sort of recall Wishsong pretty well but its the books up until the first airship book I remember best since they were the most recently read.

If at any time you ever have the free time and the desire to read these you can borrow them. Probably best left as a summer project but the point is the offer is open.

A little over a half hour ago I just finished reading Final Fantasy Adventure umm I mean Elfstones of Shannara. In all fairness it really is the other wa around although the two stories share striking similarities. Elfstones of shannara came out originally in 1982 while Final Fantasy Adventure is from 1991. The reason I make the comparison is in both a magic tree is on the brink of dying and if it does it will mean disaster for the world. Also in both a young woman is involved with the adventure and in the end becomes the tree.

Even funnier still is how in elfstones they talk about how the tree was trying to mother the elven girl that becomes the new tree.

I for the most part have finished Wishsong of Shannara. There's an extension to the story in another book I intend to pick up at some point. In the mean time I've moved onto the Heretige series.
