I heard idle rumors of the possibility of them doing a First King of Shannara movie. This was some time ago and I haven't heard anything recent. I just wonder what the chances ae of this happening. There's the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe movie coming ou and the Golden Compass movie. Just thought this would make an interesting topic of discussion.

It's a book. Written by Terry Brooks, who, other than being saddled with the unenviable task of novelizing The Phantom Menace, is a terrific fantasy author.
At first thought, I'd rather not see this become a movie. After hearing how they're butchering The Golden Compass and its sequels, I'm afraid to see books I like become movies anymore.
On the other hand, if they could con Peter Jackson into directing, he's shown that he can be true to the story.

I would think that in order to do this they would need Terry Brooks to ok it so in theory if it were done and he had a hand in it things would go right.

if they make a movie from a book the author should always be involved in order to stop the butchering of such things called story

Philip Pullman is involved in the Golden Compass movie. He just sold out and allowed them to remove all the religious stuff for a hefty sum of cash. I guess they thought the idea of a "War Against God" would make a lot of people mad. Though I'm not sure how they could possibly make a movie out of the third book without that part of the story, since that made up a significant portion of the movie. It's like taking Sauron and the Nazgul out of Lord of the Rings and replacing them with a bunch more orcs. It would just make it all really bland.

Wow that really is stupid, that stuff is what made what I heard of those books interesting. In an act of defiance ill be sure to never watch that movie. I will however read the books if can.
